Camilia Zoe-Chocolate

Camilia currently lives in Somba Ke, but was born and raised in Behchoko. She went to highshool in Yellowknife, but completed her final years and graduated at the Chief Jimmy Bruno School in Behchoko. Camilia then went on to attend Aurora College and took the Natural Resource Technology Program and graduated in 99. In 2004, Camilia began studies at the University of Northern British Columbia and Prince George and she’ll be continuing on with environmental studies in the future. Camilia was appointed to the Wek’èezhìi Land and Water Board (WLWB) on December 11, 2009.
Camilia has 3 children – Melanie, Katelynn, and Christian and has 6 sisters & 1 brother. Camilia comes from a very traditional family where both of Camilia’s parents only spoke dogrib and were hunters and trappers.
Camilia’s professional experience includes: working at BHP Billiton as a Wildlife Technician, working at Diavik Diamond Mines as an Environmental Technician, training as an Environmental Assessment Officer with the Mackenzie Valley Environmental Impact Review Board, working for the Dene Nation for 2 years as Environmental Manager. Camilia has also held positions at GNWT – Environmental and Natural Resources working on habitat projects, Canadian Parks and Wildlife Society (CPAWS) as a Conservation Coordinator, with the South-Slave Research Centre, and for Ecology North as the Climate Change Planner for the Tlicho region.
In her spare time, Camilia loves photography, reading, collecting tundra plants and enjoys spending time with family and friends.
