Diavik is required to undertake the habitat compensation work activities on West Island under direction from the Department of Fisheries and Oceans - Fisheries Authorization SC980001, to compensate for the harmful alterations, disruption or destruction (HADD) of fish habitat on the East Island of Lac de Gras, as a direct result of the construction of the Diavik Mine.
