The Jay and Cardinal kimberlite pipes are located beneath Lac du Sauvage, to the east of the Ekati Mine’s existing Misery site, in the Lac de Gras watershed. Most of the facilities required for supporting and processing ore mined from the Jay and Cardinal kimberlites already exist at the Ekati Mine. No new mining methods are proposed for this Project. Major activities proposed include: quarrying, road construction, dike and diversion construction, drawdown and fish-out of the main body of Lac du Sauvage, open pit and underground mining, placement of waste rock, and reclamation.
